Hydraulic piston rod

Hydraulic piston rod

YMT Bearings specializes in shafts, mast bearings, automotive bearings, linear guide bearings, tapered roller bearings, pillow block bearings, and deep groove ball bearings.
Customization is available, and OEM services are offered according to customer requirements.

The cylinder piston rod is a crucial connecting component in pneumatic or hydraulic systems. It connects the piston and transmits its linear reciprocating motion to external working mechanisms, enabling energy conversion and motion control. Piston rods require high precision and wear resistance and are typically made of high-quality carbon steel or stainless steel. Their operating principle involves using air/hydraulic pressure to push the piston, which then transmits the force through the piston rod.

Product Description

The cylinder piston rod is a crucial connecting component in pneumatic or hydraulic systems. It connects the piston and transmits its linear reciprocating motion to external working mechanisms, enabling energy conversion and motion control. Piston rods require high precision and wear resistance and are typically made of high-quality carbon steel or stainless steel. Their operating principle involves using air/hydraulic pressure to push the piston, which then transmits the force through the piston rod.

Main Functions

Transmission of Motion and Force: Transmits the linear reciprocating motion generated by the piston inside the cylinder to drive external mechanical components through a connecting device. Supports the Piston: Supports the piston in the cylinder to perform effective work.

Working Principle

Air Intake/Oil Supply: Compressed air or hydraulic oil enters from one end of the cylinder (e.g., the rear end).

Pressure Application: Pressure acts on the other side of the piston (the front end), generating thrust.

Piston Rod Extension: The piston rod extends outward with the piston, driving the load.

Exhaust/Oil Return: Air or fluid on the other side is discharged.

Reverse Action: Changing the direction of air intake causes the piston rod to retract, completing the reciprocating cycle.

Key Characteristics and Requirements

Precision Machining: Extremely high surface roughness requirements (e.g., Ra 0.4-0.8 μm), with strict requirements for coaxiality and straightness.

Material Selection: Commonly used materials include 45# steel (high strength), 40Cr steel (high strength, heavy load), and stainless steel (corrosion resistance). High Wear Resistance: Due to high-speed, high-frequency motion, high demands are placed on surface hardness and wear resistance.

Common Applications: Widely used in hydraulic/pneumatic systems, such as construction machinery, printing machinery, textile machinery, and automobile manufacturing, it is a core component for achieving automation and precision motion.
